ATHENS – New Democracy leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis noted in a tweet on Friday the 100th day in detention for two Greek officers held in a Turkish jail and said he would do whatever he personally could to make sure they return to their families.

“Today is the 100th day that Angelos Mitretodis and Dimitris Kouklatzis are being held in a Turkish jail. I have done, am doing, and will continue doing anything I personally can to let the world know of their illegal detention so they may return to their families,” the main opposition leader said on his Twitter account.

The two men were detained by Turkey early in March after they mistakenly crossed the border during a patrol. They have been held in the Edirne jail pending trial.
