NEW YORK – Mike Angeliadis and business partner Reno Christou, have partnered with New York City restaurateur Steve Tenedios, to open the first Kyma in New York City at 15 West 18th Street in the Flatiron district. This is the second Kyma, the first one was opened by Mr. Angeliadis in Roslyn, Long Island. There will be another Manhattan Kyma opening in the 4th quarter of 2018, in Hudson Yards.
His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios Geron of America with Fr. John Lardas from Archangel Michael Church of Port Washington blessed the new restaurant on May 15 with Consul General of Greece in New York Konstantinos Koutras and Ambassador Loucas Tsilas among the guests, family, and friends in attendance.
Tenedios, who owns twenty-eight restaurants, told The National Herald that “we will open another Kyma, being built right now at the new Hudson Yards. It will be larger, with separate rooms for meetings, occasions, etc.”
He added that “the construction of the restaurant is progressing and we believe that it will be opened by the end of the year.”
Tenedios told TNH that “there are enough and I would say very successful Greek restaurants in New York. Kyma in Roslyn is a great success. What Kyma offers that Milos, which is a restaurant that I really appreciate, and Avra, do not is that we have something more like ‘vibe dining,’ that is, you eat and feel good, beautiful for yourself, for your company, and it comes from food, the environment, the lighting, the more intense music, and it transports you to Greece much faster than any other restaurant.”
Angeliadis said that “after the success of Kyma in Roslyn, everyone was telling us why you are not opening in Manhattan, and what we have done is a high-standard and quality restaurant.”
He spoke warmly about Tenedios, noting that “he is an amazing man, a very good businessman, he has a lot of restaurants.”
He added, “We’ve known each other for many years, and we all said we were going to do a good restaurant together, so the dream came true.”
The grand opening for Kyma in the Flatiron district is June 1.
