Hellenic News of America Celebrates 30th Anniversary

CINNAMINSON, NJ – The Hellenic News of America (HNA) celebrated its 30th anniversary on November 12 at the Merion of Cinnaminson, NJ. The entertainment was provided by Greek singing star Dimitris Basis and Aphrodite Daniel, and Lou Katsos was Emcee.

Among the attendees were Paul Kotrotsios- HNA Founder and Publisher, his wife Linda, and daughter Aphrodite, HNA writer Panikos Panagiotou, American Hellenic Institute (AHI) president Nick Larigakis, Drs. Spiro and Amalia Spireas, Dr. George Tsetsekos, and Atlantic Bank President Nancy Papaioannou. Dr. Thomas Phiambolis Lankenau Heart Institute cardiologist was honored at the event. Larigakis and the AHI Board Members presented Kotrotsios with a citation for the 30th anniversary of HNA.

Also honored at the event: Eleni Bousis received the Philanthropist of the Year award;Archon Michael Psaros was named Person of the Year in Business and Philanthropy for his dedication to the Orthodox faith and his philanthropic interests. Psaros is co-Founder and Managing Partner of KPS Capital Partners, LP;John Koudounis, CEO of Calamos Investments,received the Investor of the Year award for his dedication to investing in Greece; andNancy Papaioannou, president of Atlantic Bank, received the Women in Leadership Award.

Dr Michael G. Papaioannou was awarded for his dedication to the world economy. He was a Deputy Division Chief at the Debt and Capital Markets Instruments, Monetary and Capital Markets Department of the International Monetary Fund until July 2017.

While there, he served as a special adviser to the Governing Board of the Bank of Greece.Dr. Thomas Phiambolis received the Distinguished Professional of the Year award for his dedication in the advancement of heart health.Chris Diamantoukos, AHEPA Supreme Governor Region 3 received the AHEPA of the Year award.Markos Papadatos was recognized for his role as a senior editor and journalist.

Kotrotsios said “thank you for helping us provide continuously to the cultural, significant news worthy and historical vault of the Greek American Community, in promoting and empowering the ideas and traditions of Hellenic American friendship. Thank you for sharing the dream.”

Panagiotou wrote, that “after 30 years it’s not just an anniversary and a celebration. It is the vindication of the undertaking and the reward of the effort of a course that required stubbornness and endurance.With honesty and love you added your own stone to the building called the Hellenes Abroad. And you mostly rooted in the field of Greek American media which is in need and deserving of greater support.”
