THESSALONIKI – New Democracy leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis kicked off a three-day visit to Thessaloniki on Friday to attend the 82nd Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF).
“My vision is to make Thessaloniki and northern Greece a globally competitive pole of attraction for high technology products and innovation,” main opposition New Democracy (ND) leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis said on Friday, during his visit to Thessaloniki’s Technopolis.
Mitsotakis met with with executives of businesses involved in developing innovation.
“We have both the plan and the will to provide you with the opportunities to turn your business dreams into action, to teach a new generation of young people the concept of entrepreneurship, the concept of taking a business risk, but you must always be aware that business risk must be accompanied by the expectation of a reward,” Mitsotakis said.
He added that there is a need for a comprehensive legislative framework for innovative entrepreneurship, a shift to research programmes in Greek universities, applied research and tax incentives.
At 13:30 he met with students that excelled at the Mathematical Olympiad and with university students from the School of Architecture in the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki who, as part of their thesis, won one of the first awards at an international architecture and design competition. At 19:00 he will visit the Museum of Macedonian Struggle.
On Saturday, Mitsotakis will visit the TIF at 11:00 and at 19:30 he will speak at the “Ioannis Velidis” conference center.
On Sunday, he will hold a press conference at 13:00 at the same conference center.
