Meropi Kyriacou Honored as TNH Educator of the Year
NEW YORK – Meropi Kyriacou, the new Principal of The Cathedral School in Manhattan, was honored as The National Herald’s Educator of the Year.
To the Editor:
During his lifetime, my father distinguished himself by becoming a doctor of chiropractics, the director of the Spartacus Club for intellectual Greeks in New York, and a writer for the New York World Telegram as well. I am adding his timely letter to The National Herald.
It was dated September 13, 1935. At that time, President Franklin D. Roosevelt was advocating for health care for all U.S. citizens. Sadly, my father died a few years later at age 37, yet his words apply even today.

Permit me to say through your valuable newspaper that those who destructively criticize our noble President are either conscious or unconscious enemies of the convalescent present order and the American people. My firm belief, however, is that President Roosevelt has worked overtime and without extra pay, finding ways and means to safeguard the American people and the American representative form of government. Yet there are people who criticize him so inadvertently.
Our capitalistic system was chronically sick. Obsolete methods and doctrines could not have saved it; new basic and scientific methods had to be applied if we were to see the tottering structure erect. It was suffering from a plethora of subluxations and luxations. President Roosevelt as a super-chiropractic physician has applied the new basic and scientific adjustments to the sick and intricate mechanism of our capitalistic structure, and he has saved it.
