$140K Donation from Greek-American to Greek Charity ‘Gone’ Former Volunteer Alleges

February 2, 2024

ATHENS – More information came to light on February 1 regarding Konstantinos Polychronopoulos, founder of the ‘Αλλο Ανθρωπο – Another Human’ charity that runs soup kitchens and distributes meals to the needy in Greece. A whistleblower, George, spoke to the MEGA TV channel and referred to a $140,000 donation from a Greek-American, money from donations boxes that disappeared – and a bill at a nightclub in the amount of thousands of dollars.

He never saw the money sent by the Greek-American donor, although he spoke him. He said he transferred money to ‘Another Human’ to help unfortunate people with unpaid rent and utility bills.

George said, “I was there because I was in an eviction situation, and to receive food, I had to volunteer there. When the Greek-American arrived, he asked me and other volunteers about my problems. I told him, and he told me not to worry – money had been transferred to ‘Another Human’ that was strictly for unpaid rents and utility bills, so he told me I would be helped from there. As soon as that person left, and I asked Polychronopoulos about that money because the day of my eviction was approaching. He told me that there is no money and that the best thing for me would be to get up and leave the soup kitchen program.”

“I was a volunteer for a year at Another Human, and what I witnessed was completely surreal to me. I can talk about the groceries that people brought on a daily basis, 100-150 bags with meat, foodstuffs, and other items that people brought for families in need – and they wouldn’t distribute them. They told us not to give anything to anyone, only to people within their family circle,” George told the MEGA channel about his experiences at Polychronopoulos’ facility.

He added, “we cooked with whatever people brought, but just meals that didn’t contain meat. That went into freezers at the soup kitchen, and it was distributed gradually to people within their family circle. I doubt that they themselves ever bought meat.”

He emphasized Polychronopoulos’ aggressive stance toward those who did not do what he wanted.

Regarding the donation boxes that ‘Another Human’ placed in various stores, George said, “as soon as they brought them, the money was distributed to people within the family circle of ‘Another Human’, and it stopped there. It disappeared afterward. It did not exist.”

He also described an incident where “they wanted to go to the ‘bouzoukia’ (a nightclub), and they sent me and a relative of theirs to withdraw the money they would take to the nightclub, and the bill came to $7,500.”

When he brought up these matters, he said “they threatened me, and because I have children, I was afraid my family would suffer. They told me they would break my legs. The people who told me this do not have a good reputation. They came to the facility many times, but not continuously.”
