AEK completed their first transfer of the summer, signing Vasilis Barkas from Atromitos. The young Greek goalkeeper agreed to a 3-year deal with the Kitrinomavri.
According to aekfc.gr, the deal with Atromitos closed at €600,000. Additionally, Atromitos will receive a portion of money if Barkas is transferred from AEK to another club in the coming years. This season, Barkas had 20 appearance with Atromitos (12 SuperLeague, 8 Greek Cup), and was recently called up to the Greek National Team for their friendlies in Australia. Barkas has been with Atromitos his whole career, making his Superleague debut last May. Barkas stated “My goals were accomplished. I was called up to the National Team and I signed with a big club. He went on to say that his goal with AEK is to win the Greek SuperLeague.
