11th Athens Open Air Film Festival Returns in June

ATHENS — The 11th Athens Open Air Film Festival (AOAFF) will return to Athenian summer cinemas and drive-ins in June and run through August, the organizers said on Wednesday.

This year's festival poster and creative overtones are inspired by the film "In the Mood for Love" (2000) by Kar-Wai Wong. A special event celebrating the 20-year legacy of the film will also be held during the festival, said Artistic Director Vassilis Mexis.

Many cities worldwide – including New York, London and Melbourne – are holding special events and screenings of the Hong Kong director's masterpiece in honor of its cultural impact, while an open-air screening is scheduled at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival, it was mentioned in a press release.

"In the Mood for Love" will be shown afresh in Athens cinemas for a limited time on June 17, kindly offered by the specialized on-demand cinema platform Cinobo.

AOAFF 2021 is organized by the Athens International Film Festival, in collaboration with the City of Athens Cultural, Sport & Youth Organization.

The festival's full program will be announced in coming days.
