Dozens of parishioners and officials from the St. Markella Church in Wantagh, NY donated their time and service for the church's annual Greek festival, which began on Thurs. May 27, 2010 all the way up until midnight Memorial Day Monday. St. Markella Pastor Rev. Sarantis Loulakis, parish council president George Lilikas, vice president Manolis Sazaklis, festival chairperson John Papoulis, and Philoptochos president Koula Kouimanis worked long and hard to ensure the festival's success. The proceeds from the festival will go to benefit the construction of the community's new Byzantine-style church. Work will begin immediately following the festival and the church is expected to be ready by Christmas.
