Audience members watch as a commemorative wreath is lain in honor of those who died in the Battle of Crete.
The Joint Committee of Cretan Societies of NY and NJ organized an event commemorating the 69th anniversary of the Battle of Crete on Sun. May 23, 2010. Following a memorial service at the St. Catherine Church in Astoria, NY, an event was held at the Kritiko Spiti in Astoria, NY featuring University of Maryland's Professor George Skoulakis as the keynote speaker.
