The featured speaker was Metropolitan Gennadios of Sassima, a high-ranking hierarch of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Constantinople, who also received an honorary Doctor of Divinity Degree for his work as heading the Interchristian and Interorthodox Relations and Dialogues of the Ecumenical Patriarchate and as Abbot at the historic Monastery of Baloukli in Constantinople where the Patriarchs are buried. Prominent Greek American businessmen and philanthropists Andy Athens and Chris P. Tomaras were also honored with Doctor of Humanities awards.
