Greece's Deputy Foreign Minister Spyros Kouvelis visited the St. Demetrios Greek American School in Astoria - the only Greek American high school operating in the U.S. on Tuesday April 20, 2010. This school is also recognized by the Greek Ministry of Education. Kouvelis stopped by various classrooms and met with students, whom he spoke to about their Greek roots and their classes. He also took the opportunity to congratulate the teachers and stress the importance of preserving the Greek language.'
