The Society of Epirotes "Anagenesis" and its ladies auxiliary division "Souliotisses" together with the Pyrrhus Benevolent Society of Northern Epiros and its ladies division the "Daughters of Epiros" held an event on Sunday Feb. 21, 2010 commemorating the liberation of Ioannina and the autonomous status of Northern Epirus. A memorial service and doxology were held at the St. Demetrios Cathedral in Astoria, NY, and were followed by a luncheon.
