St. Demetrios Astoria School Students Raise Funds, Clothing for Haiti Quake Victims

Students from the St. Demetrios Day School in Astoria, NY raised $1,600 to send to the earthquake victims of Haiti. In addition, they also took up a clothing drive. On Wed. Jan. 27, 2010, the students from Grades K to 3 gathered together in the school hall, joined by Rev. George Anastasiou, teachers, and parents, to help prepare the relief aid. Haiti was the first country to recognize Greece's independence during the War of 1821.
