Rev. Fr. Athanas G. George, Dean of the Annunciation Cathedral in Detroit, led a community-wide to find a burial site and raise the funds to cover the funeral expenses for Stella Paris. Many area Greek Americans contributed.

Detroit's Greektown has lost a colorful and raucous piece of its history. Stella Paris, known to many as Greektown Stella, died at East Grand Nursing Home in Detroit on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010. She was 97, and was living on the streets of Detroit for over 30 years.
