Dozens of teenagers plunged into some very cold water at Spring Bayou in Tarpon Springs, Fla on Wednesday afternoon Jan 6, 2010 as part of the decades-old Epiphany celebration. In the end only one boy, 16-year-old Dimitrios Kalogiannis of New Port Richey, ended up with the cross. It took the Gulfport High student less than 20 seconds to retrieve it from Spring Bayou. Celebrations commenced a day earlier on Tuesday morning, when His Eminence Archbishop Demitrios of America blessed the sponge boat fleet which borders the dive area. Following that, the Archbishop delivered his Epiphany message at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Clearwater. Children were at the church, dressed in traditional Greek costume.
