Congressman Joseph Crowley met with members of the International Coordinating Committee - "Justice of Cyprus" on Monday evening, Nov. 30, 2009 at the Pancyprian Sports Lounge in Astoria, NY. During the meeting he leaders of the Cypriot American organizations had the opportunity to express their concerns over the Cyprus issue and reservations ahead of the impending visit of Turkish PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Washington D.C., where he will meet with President Barack Obama. The Cypriot American leaders asked Congressman Crowley to contact President Obama, Vice President Biden, and Secretary of State Clinton and ask them to intervene with Mr. Erdogan on behalf of the religious rights of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, the recognition of Cyprus, and the withdrawal of Turkish troops from northern Cyprus.
