This section holds a select gathering of my articles, historical accounts, book reviews, and commentaries that have appeared in the National Herald/Ethnikos Kyrix since 1999.
A key feature of this new webpage is to gather these articles not simply chronologically but by subject matter. As anyone viewing these various subject sections will quickly realize I have pursued specific themes and arguments.
I have left all these articles in their original unedited form. Rather than edit past work I will continue my explorations into the historical and social experiences of Greeks in the United States through my ongoing articles for the print-edition of the Kyrix.
This expanded website is meant to merge the existing texts with the new visual and audio possibilities only this emerging media can afford. All new video and audio interview recordings will now compliment the written texts. Given that the Internet constitutes space not available on the printed page it is our intent to simultaneously increase the sheer number of images that have illustrated these past accounts. Yet much more is intended.
In this New Millennium Greek American communities find themselves strangely isolated from one another. The persistent attitude is as long as everything is fine in one’s own church community that is all that really matters. This isolationism is new to the Greek experience in North America and runs counter to its recorded history. It is our hope that Greeks seeing and hearing other Greeks will promote a new collective awareness.
Please forgive what might seem long unexplained delays in offering you these articles and additional features. This particular section of the Kyrix website is very much a work-in-progress.
