I totally agree with Orthodoxy Lite! There are many Greek Americans (of all age groups) who would enjoy a spiritual experience in a more relaxed setting and in English without the avalanche of archaic and repetitive blessings which don't reflect our modern times. Tradition in very small doses would be much appreciated. Let's try harder and get us to a more enlightened place in the 21st century! The Greek church as it's organized is losing us!

we must not forget that those prayers on sunday liturgy are not just traditions but are the only reason we really are supposed to be at church on sunday which is to take comunion, without those prayers no communion. we shouldnt change the service to make it more modern, but it can be done in more english, or like the author said have an english service on saturday that is not as long but still encompasses the main points of the liturgy we cannot water down our faith because then we might as well become protestant or on saturday we can do many other sorts of services that are not full liturgies in chicago lots of churches have vespers on saturdays that barely anyone attends either but mainly the priest has to be really passionate and i do not see many of them willing to work extra hard and drwaing more people in one way or the other

The problem isn't the liturgy but the priests who don't explain what Is happening as they go through the service. They go through the motions only. People would be amazed at how interesting our service is . They get paid for a full week they should at least put more effort in teaching the parishioners what's going on.
