Greek Police Bodyguards for Politicians, VIPS, Curtailed

ATHENS – With crime rising amid a crushing economic crisis, the Greek government will redeploy 1,500 of 4,200 police officers now guarding politicians, businessmen and other members of the country’s elite to street patrols. Public Order Minister Nikos Dendias also said that 100 patrols cars and 60 motorcycles that were used to escort VIP’s will be transferred to regular duties.
