Greece Expels Three Olympians for Drugs and Tweeting

ATHENS – As the 2012 London Olympics were set to open, Greece’s squad lost world indoor high jump champion Dimitris Chondrokoukis and 3,000- meter runner Irene Kokkinariou for failing doping tests, while triple jumper Paraskevi Papachristou was booted off the team for sending a racist tweet on Twitter about African immigrants in Greece.

The drug issues I can understand, but booting someone off the team for a tasteless joke is WAY over the top. She probably spent years preparing for this Olympics. One more the Greek leadership shows it's Poltically Correct to a fault. Nauseating.

Agreed Philip. The joke was tasteless but still a joke. Their is no racism in Greece against Africans. They have become great citizens of Greece establishing private schools in Athens and their children are excelling in academics. This girl got royally screwed.

One - discretion is the better part of valor. Two - it is better to be silent and thought a fool, than to speak (in this case, tweet) and remove all doubt! These silly kids just can't get it through their thick, Internet-addled, skulls that if you post something on blogs, Facebook, or Twitter, it is out there for the world to see. Sorry, but kala na pathei - as baloume oloi myalo!
