Professor Elias Gyftopoulos dies at 84

BOSTON.- Professor emeritus of MIT Elias P. Gyftopoulos died at the age of 84. Dr. Gyftopoulos was the Ford Professor of Mechanical Engineering and of Nuclear Engineering for more than 20 years prior to his retirement in 1996. His Research Interest included Nuclear plant dynamics; plasma physics; surface physics; direct energy conversion; thermodynamics and quantum thermodynamics; energy policy and technology.
