ATHENS – With violent crime on the upswing in the wake of Greece’s biggest economic crisis since the end of World War II, Greeks had become used to hearing reports of home invasions, handbag snatches, and armed robberies, but the murder of a 54-year-old Piraeus pharmacist who refused to give up a bag and was shot five times in a daylight robbery on June 13 in front of witnesses shocked many residents. Authorities identified the victim as Spyros Poukamisas. He was shot when he attempted to prevent two robbers stealing a bag containing 1,600 euros, ($2,000) the proceeds from his businesses. According to witnesses, Poukamisas said: “Not me again, guys,” when the assailants approached him. He had been robbed last month as well. Police said the two suspects made off in a yellow Peugeot in the presence of many stunned witnesses.

The Greek police are overwhelmed with the increased crime. The military should be called in to restore order, and declare martial law. All illegals should immediately be arrested, and securing borders must be a top priority. This is why the Dawn party has garnished in the last election 7% of the vote.

The Greek police are poorly trained and their powers stripped. They are as incapable of stopping crime like this and most of them don't want to even get involved. My cousin is a cop in Nafpaktos and I here all the stories.

Police in Greece have had to put up with decades of being blamed for coming down hard on criminals instead of commended. The lefist A-holes who ran that nation through PASOK governments assured us of that. If you want more of the same, vote for SYRIZA-Tsipras has talked about stripping the military and cutting down on Police 'overhead' to fund his social agenda.

The police mess was created by PASOK and ND, with tying the police's hands in doing their duty. Well PASOK you got what you wanted, and now you are claiming you do nothing wrong. You 2 knuckleheads (ND & PASOK), now got out of this mess you made. They'll claim the Greeks themselves do it not them. Crime is going up, and the police have been criticized for doing their jobs, and told to look the other way for far too long. This has made the police not appreciated at all, and hence the morale of theirs has sink to new lows. Tourism will start to dry up, as crime goes up with the illegals doing it, poor people stealing for food, and the decreased police presence, because of cuts to their ranks to save money. The end of this mess will demand a strong people to kick to the curb, these parasite political parties PASOK, and ND.
