5.8R quake jolts Rhodes
AMNA--A moderate earthquake measuring 5.8 on the open-ended Richter scale jolted the Dodecanese island of Rhodes early Sunday afternoon, but no damage was immediately reported.It was followed five minutes later by a quake measuring 5.5 Richter, and a subsequent string of smaller tremors.
The earthquake was recorded at 15:44 local time (13:44 GMT), with its epicenteΡ in the sea region 73 kilometers east of the island, between Rhodes and Turkey, and an epicentral depth of 37 kilometers.
