Angry parish council members lied in wait outside St. Sophia's Greek Orthodox Cathedral, on Sunday, to confront TNH reporter Theo Karantsalis about a recent story he co-wrote that showed the church was in "dire financial straits." This was Karantsalis’ first time attending St. Sophia since the story aired in early May. "We saw you taking notes today," said Anthony Hados, who formed a semi-circle with others that boxed Karantsalis into a nearby wall. "You are airing our dirty laundry to the public.” Minutes earlier, Hados had stood at the altar, alongside the council, to share prayers with Father Stavroforos Mamaies on his last day.
