ATHENS, Greece (AP) — Greek authorities have opened a first detention center for illegal migrants under a new anti-immigration drive launched shortly before Sunday's national election.

Police say dozens of people were being taken Monday to the site at Amygdaleza, on the northern fringe of Athens, the capital. The first batch, 56 people, were interned on Sunday. The center is designed for 1,200 inmates.

Local residents have held a series of protests, saying the camp will add to the area's crime problems.

Good. These illegals have no right to be in Greece, or any EU nation. Europe can't afford to carry them on it's exhausted social service systems and they bring in crime. If they don't like living in detention centers, go back home. They need to reform the pestholes they came from, not burden europe with their presence.

I guess the only business has now after tourism is being killed off (Delta leaving Greek flights to Greece)is the illegal alien trade. Hey maybe they can collect taxes from these people. Hey if only they had jobs. Greece is being made to look like a laughing stock to the world's countries. When will they learn. You arrest and deport not house illegals. It is the beginning of the end of Greece.
