WASHINGTON, DC – AHEPA Family members and friends recently gathered to honor excellence in public service and the community at a "Salute to Civic Responsibility" Dinner at the Hart Senate Office Building. The honorees at the august event included, U.S. Rep. John Sarbanes (D-MD), who received the 2012 AHEPA Pericles Award for excellence in public service which was presented by U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone [D-NJ]); U.S. Rep. Ed Royce (R-CA), 2012 who was given the AHEPA Pericles Award for excellence in public service which was presented by U.S. Rep. Gus Bilirakis [R-FL]); Panicos Papanicolaou, president, Cyprus Federation of America who accepted the AHEPA Excellence in Leadership Award which was presented by PSEKA-International Coordinating Committee Justice for Cyprus President Philip Christopher); and Nick Larigakis, president, American Hellenic Institute who was honored with the AHEPA Outstanding Public Advocacy Award which presented by AHEPA Executive Director Basil Mossaidis.
