Cyprus gov't laments Greek junta anniversary

Today’s anniversary of the establishment of the military junta in Greece in 1967 is a dark page in the history of Greece and of broader Hellenism, Government Spokesman Stephanos Stephanou said Saturday, while acknowledging the fight of the Cypriot people and of all those who fought against the implementation of the junta’s designs for Cyprus.The military junta seized power in Greece following a coup d’ etat on April 21, 1967, establishing a military rule that collapsed seven years later, in July 1974, after the Turkish invasion in Cyprus.
