Great letter from Congrssman Berman, but what's he going to DO as follow up? The State Department could not function for ONE DAY without funding appropriated in the US Congress. How about the Congressman proposing a reduction in aid for the State Department contingent with receiving a clarification on US plans to promote resolution of the Cyprus division? The reduction could be apportioned to the percentage of US taxpayers of Greek American ethnicity. That seems like a reasonable plan of action. Afterall, why should US citizens support US foreign policy with their tax money which they don't agree with? There is nothing in the Constitution which mandates tax money being used to promote foreign affairs-this is one more of those US government 'decrees' which has been allowed to grow like a cancer over the decades. I want to see actions with teeth, not more toothless Resolutions or letters to the State Department which nobody reads.
