Archdiocese to Pick Gounaris for Cathedral

The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America intends to appoint Rev. Anastasios Gounaris Dean of the Holy Trinity Archdiocesan Cathedral in Manhattan after Easter. Gounaris has been pastoring at the Holy Trinity parish in Indianapolis, IN since 1991.
NEW YORK – The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America intends to appoint Rev. Anastasios Gounaris Dean of the Holy Trinity Archdiocesan Cathedral in Manhattan after Easter. Gounaris has been pastoring at the Holy Trinity parish in Indianapolis, IN since 1991. Gounaris visited New York recently and met with Church leaders at the Archdiocese as well as with the parish council of the Cathedral. Gounaris told TNH that he did not know when he would begin, but acknowledged that he was in New York and met with Church officials. Gounaris, commonly called Father Taso, was born and raised in the seaport city of New Bedford, MA. He earned a BS in Engineering from the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth in 1979 and his master’s of Divinity from Holy Cross School of Theology in Brookline, MA in 1983.
