Hoard of Medieval Coins Found on Greek Island

ATHENS, Greece (AP) — Greece's culture ministry says a hoard of silver mediaeval coins has been discovered during construction work on the Aegean Sea island of Naxos.A ministry statement says the coins mostly date to the mid 14th century, when Naxos and other islands in the Cyclades group were governed by Venetian dukes. Workers gathered a total 54 loose coins, and found several more in a small clay pot, the ministry said.
